His message to homeschoolers is that kids need plenty of opportunity to work with their hands, to "tinker." They need to be encouraged to develop their imagination and creativity and to "make something cool" out of ordinary things. In our focus on "curriculum," we shouldn't forget the masking tape and the hammer and nails! After speaking at our 2002 Conference, Ritchie was asked by Smith-Gibbs publishing to prepare a book of projects for parents, particularly dads, to do with their children. The book was published in August of 2005 under the title Every Kid Needs Thing That Fly. The projects range from easy to difficult and use simple materials such as pop bottles, PVC pipe, and plumbing supplies. Included is a "joy stick" for the car, a "jet pack" to strap on a small back (the jet noise and flying power to be provided by Dad), a masking-tape airport for the living room floor, a water rocket and several hot air balloons for the back yard, and even a workbench. to order, return to top of page I, Nephiby Janeen Brady Lehi's family story from The Book of Mormon is told in song and verse. Whether you're a confirmed "vegan" or you just want to cut down on the animal fats in your diet, Millie's recipes will help. There are over 100 of them, and even the children will be pleased. to order, return to top of page Wheat for Meat by Sheri Cluff Soak your wheat - run it through a meat grinder - use it like ground beef in patties, loaves, chili, casseroles. Much easier than the old gluten method. These meat substitutes don't taste like meat, but they taste good and are so much more healthy and less expensive. Sheri soaks her wheat until it sprouts, then grinds it until it looks like ground beef -- but there's no fat to plug up arteries, no blood to make a mess on the counter, and no E.coli contamination so it's safe to handle without gloves. Sheri seasons the wheat in various ways and makes patties, loaves, and several other delicious dishes. Here's a cooking class that may change your life! to order, return to top of page |
