George Washington and | George Washington and
Divine Intervention Ron Mann, dvd presentation Brother Ron Mann prefers to be known as "an old hick farmer from Idaho," but he is really a brilliant patriot who was Deputy Director of the United States Commission on the Bi-centennial of the Constitution and worked on the staff of President Ronald Reagan. Brother Mann is a student of history, especially of Washington. He has an extensive collection of books about Washington that were written before the twentieth century, "when the word Providence was still in use." He has identified over 100 separate, distinct instances in which the Hand of Providence was seen in Washington's life. When Brother Mann gave this presentation in Salt Lake City in 2009 he brought along some guns and other artifacts that you will see briefly at the end of the dvd. (Or send a note if you would prefer the Glenn Beck Founders Friday program on George Washington. It's a classic!) |

It's Time to Times Janeen Brady, musical cd From a master composer and homeschool grandma comes a delightful collection of songs for learning the times tables. As always, Janeen has written quality music which will strengthen your children's math skills and feed their brains. I sent a cd to my daughter in Texas. Her children discovered it while she was out running errands. When she got home they announced that they had put together a dance for the "fours," which has a square dance theme and western music. We were not the least surprised; this music compels a dance! The threes are sung to a waltz, the sixes feature a rousing leprechaun and an Irish jig, the eights feature a swing song about spiders, for the elevens you'll need your castanets, and on it goes. Besides the dances your children will be marching and creating other productions, so have your video camera ready! |

DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geograph Rod Meldrum, dvd I've not seen anything that is more exciting and more likely to be of interest to our youth than this video. It is faith promoting with much substance. Joseph Smith comes alive as we learn the geography of Zion's Camp and the things he taught about the Book of Mormon peoples. The dvd is about more than DNA (and that part may not interest your younger children); in the 4 hours of material are 17 other sections, each good for a family night lesson. The dvd is the work of Brother Rod Meldrum whose profession as a scientific researcher "with access to several world-class research libraries and scientific search engines" led him to "begin research on the DNA controversy, which then led to questioning the origin of the theories surrounding the geographical locations of the Book of Mormon." There is a long-standing debate over whether North or Central America is the land of Book of Mormon geography. The Church has taken no stand on this issue, although Elder Hartman Rector, an Emeritus Seventy who gives the introduction on the dvd, holds as his personal opinion that North America is the place. Although Brother Meldrum makes a very compelling case for North American geography, the geographical argument is not critical to us and will be worked out in the end. What is so useful in this dvd is the wonderful information about things that did happen on American soil. Those are the things that will thrill your family. In a 1988 Conference talk President Benson said, "America will be a blessed land unto the righteous forever and is the base from which God will continue to direct the worldwide latter-day operations of His kingdom." America is the base! Although the Lord began and ended his earthly mission in the Holy Land, and although there is evidence that He visited the people in South America, His headquarters are in America. The Garden of Eden was here, the priesthood meeting at Adam-ondi-Ahman was and will again be here, the plates were buried and retrieved here, and New Jerusalem will be built here. The Church offices are here in Salt Lake. Church members in America have great blessings and huge responsibilities. From here missionaries are called and "the gospel goes out to cover the whole earth," bringing the same blessings to members everywhere. Both the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Constitution are meant for all people. Americans are simply the office and field staff, and we'd better take up our banner and get to work. Brother Randall Wright, who teaches and conducts research for CES and speaks to many youth groups, believes the way to save our youth is to give them a sense of mission. This dvd will help you accomplish just that. |

The Works of H. Verlan Andersen
Five great books on a data disc, in both text and pdf Elder Andersen's books went unpublished for many years; now they are available both in book form and on this data disc. The disc is important because you can pick a chapter and print copies for your family discussions. (You might start with the chapters on Socialized Education in The Great and Abominable Church of the Devil.) The Great and Abominable Church of the Devil, 240pgs Over the years different authors have written about possible organizations which filled the definition of the Church of the Devil. No organization has the ability to murder and rob with impunity, (1 Ne. 13, 14) save government. Prostituted governments have murdered and enslaved more of their own citizens, and citizens of other nations, a thousand fold times the murders and enslaving done outside of government. Have the LDS and other Christians been seduced to partake of the spoils of prostituted government? Has the Church of the Devil gathered in many members who do not even know they are a part of it? Many are Called but Few Are Chosen, 138 pages. This was the first book published by Elder Andersen, while a professor at BYU. In April, 1972's General Conference, Ezra Taft Benson urged the entire Church to read it. The title refers to the fact that "many are given the priesthood in this life, but few will retain it in the next. . . . Our attitude toward agency in this life is reflected in the laws we favor." Might this be why the first step in saving our country is to save our homes? The Moral Basis of a Free Society, 236 pages Elder Andersen, an attorney with law degrees from both Harvard and Stanford ,taught business law at BYU in their Business College. The first day of class he would give his students an ungraded questionnaire of 25-30 questions to get their beliefs regarding the proper role of government. Unknown to the students, the questions included the famous 10 points of Marx's Communist Manifesto of 1848. To his surprise, the students on average accepted 2/3's of Marx's plans to destroy a capitalist society. This book was used as a syllabus the first two weeks of class to teach the proper role of government as taught by the scriptures and the prophets. The Proper and Improper Role of Government, 56 pgs A short book that includes Ezra Taft Benson's classic talk, "The Proper Role of Government," and Brother Andersen's teachings on America's decline as we have adopted the laws of socialism. The Book of Mormon and the Constitution, 266pgs Elder Andersen draws the parallels of (a) The Nephite experience with the Gospel and self-rule (the Reign of the Judges) for the 125 years before Christ came and their brief millennium, and (b) the U.S. experience with the Gospel and self-rule, which is leading to our millennium. Many members, after reading this book understand the statement that "the Book of Mormon was written for our day." |

Utah Eagle Forum Convention 2010 If you live in Utah or you are trying to learn about the workings of government, you may want to watch this Convention which is held every January in preparation for our six week legislative session. Among the nearly two dozen speakers are some of the best of our lawmakers, including Senators, state legislators, the founders of the Patrick Henry Caucus, and many of our best, politically involved citizens. Also speaking was Phyllis Schlafly, President and Founder of Eagle Forum, a very astute woman. In Ron Mann's presentation on Washington he noted that there were also "many great leaders, dozens of great leaders, available to help." I believe we are seeing that happening today. Some of those great educational and political leaders were among the speakers at this conference -- although I must also say that two of our top LDS legislative leaders resigned this year because of scandals. Neither spoke at this convention. Perhaps the wheat and the tares are beginning to be separated. |

| Let's Eat Plants: Three Session from our 1998 Health Conference, dvd Mothers: What to Feed the Children Fathers; Real Men on a Vegan Diet Food Tips From A Plant Food Chef This presentation from our 1998 Health Conference begins with a panel of four delightful mothers, mostly homeschoolers, who explain how they feed their families. Four men then tell their diet stories, and a vegan chef talks about the ingredients you may want to use. Whatever decisions we make in diet and healing should be measured against the words of the Lord. "God knows what course to pursue to restore mankind to their pristine excellency and primitive vigor, and health; and He has appointed the Word of Wisdom as one of the engines to bring about this thing..." -Hyrum Smith, Times and Seasons, 3:799-801 |
