English Grammar
and Punctuation

We have not found one grammar program that is better than any other.   You will find that your child's output here will depend somewhat on the input he has received from the reading and speaking that takes place in his home.

The best way to teach grammar and punctuation is to correct the things your child writes when he wants you to do so.  One reason for homeschooling is to avoid the testing, dissecting, labeling, and privacy invasion of the educational bureaucracy.

As your child gets into his mature teen years, and especially if writing is not his parent's strong point, he may want to find a mentor -- someone who is excellent in writing and would be will to correct his work and offer suggestions for improvement.  But the time your child in this age, he should feel a sense of responsibility for his own education, although the parent is still his primary mentor, example, and friend.
